So with all of the snow that were getting I have today off. This gives me some time to update my bass blog.
Last week I was really stoked to be able to start on the body of my bass. I had all of the parts assembled and was ready to start laminating the top and back to the core. Here are the pieces for the back of the bass:

Here is what the top will resemble:

I got all of the pieces cut, joined, planed and ready to go and started the glueing process:

If you look at the picture you will notice that there aren't clamps on the bottom of the boards. Well when I took the clamps off the walnut had cupped away from the basswood (the core). Alas I'll Have to cut them apart sand down to the walnut, and start again. Oh well.
Here it is with everything laid out kind of like what it will be like when it's glued together (without the shape):

I also got a little work done on the neck shape:

One of the guys at the shop recommended that I should use long strips of sandpaper to help get rid of the rasp marks. I went to home depot and got a belt for a belt style sander and then cut it so that it was one long strip. It worked pretty well. I still have about 2/3 of the neck to go.
I also did a little drawing yesterday of the headstock. Here are a couple of the renderings of the entire shape:

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the progress!
